Image registration (also known as image alignment) is the process of transforming one image so that it best matches another image. This is especially useful when you want to combine two or more images that are similar but not geometrically aligned. For example, when creating HDR images with multiple exposures, unless you used a fixed tripod the source images will often be slightly shifted. Although many dedicated HDR programs include an alignment step, if you prefer to do the alignment manually (for instance within GIMP using layer masks), this plug-in can be very helpful.
We are pleased to announce support for GIMP 3.0. The new version of the plug-in (v 3.0.0) runs under GIMP 3.0, while the earlier version 2.0.1 remains available for GIMP 2.10.
Pre-built binaries of this plug-in are available at:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-image-reg/files/
After downloading, extract the files to a folder of your choice and add it to GIMP’s plug-in directories.
Please visit the Installation page for full instructions, including building from source if desired.
